Let him eat cake!

We made it through a year!! Dylan is one! (almost). Everyone told us that it goes by so fast, which it did, and it didn't.  I think we've done a good job at slowing down so that we have had lots of quality time with Dylan, and we have both enjoyed watching him grow and learn.  Our 5lb 4oz preemie baby is now a 22lb blond hair, blue eyed toddler.  We just love his little personality, and making him laugh is the best! Can't wait for him to really start talking up a storm.  Excited for the milestones that are coming soon, but are enjoying every minute of where we are right now.

Dylan's party was on October 7th at our house.  Nothing crazy, just family and close friends.  We are so lucky to have such great people in our lives, and who love Dylan so much.  They love him so much that our living room is overflowing with new toys right now, haha. The cake eating part of the party was rather uneventful, Dylan didn't really get into it much.  I think he was overwhelmed by all of the people.  Oh well, we had fun.

Just for my own memory: our present to Dylan was a convertible tricycle toy.  It starts off where the parents can push it, then it turns into a real tricycle for when they are older.

We love you Dylan!! Here's to a great first year!

(Thanks Bobby for helping me take pictures so I didn't have to watch the party from behind a camera!)

1st trip to the pumpkin patch

One of the best parts of fall growing up was going to Rombach's pumpkin patch.  There's no better place to get pumpkins, and fun pictures too.  We went last weekend with Mike's boss, Freddie, and his family.  It was super bright outside, so the pictures aren't the best, but we tried.  Got some fun white pumpkins to help decorate for Dylan's birthday party.

11-12 months

Well, I almost made it a whole year with the monthly updates.  This will be a combo 11-12 month update because I got too busy with school, and with Dylan on the move, it's harder to do computer projects.  So...11-12 months. Lots and lots of learning going on!  It seems like everyday he picks up something new.  Crawling all over the place, pulling up on everything he can reach, attempting the stairs, and lots of bumps and bruises.  This job just got a lot harder!!

Dylan is learning new words all the time.  It's so fun to watch him watch us speak (especially for a language teacher!).  He concentrates so hard on your mouth to figure out how to make the words.  So far, his list of words are mama, dada, hi, ball (although lots of things are "ball" to him, so I don't really count that one), bubble, meow (he has conversations with Bella), all done, moo, vroom...I think that's it.

Still loving food.  He can eat pretty much anything we eat now, which is a lot easier, and keeps us eating healthy most of the time.  He loves salmon and any fish really, chicken, pork, beef (especially in stuffed peppers), really he eats anything we put in front of him.

Daycare is kicking his butt, health wise.  He has pretty much been sick since he started in August, and is now on his second round of antibiotics.  Poor guy!

Next weekend is the big first birthday party! Can't believe it has been a whole year that he has been here! It has gone so fast, and has been such a fun journey so far.  Looking forward to celebrating his first year with family and friends on Sunday!
