Dylan rolled over for the first time today! About 4 and a half months old.Tummy to back, and did it about 4 times. It just happened to occur while I was taking pics of him, so here is the evidence!

First "official" playdate
Our friends Dan and Stephanie texted us the other day to see if we wanted to have a "playdate" on Sunday. Mike and I both laughed and said "wow, we're officially old" - remember when Sundays were used for recovering from Saturday night? Yeah, life has changed (and we love it!)
So Dan and Steph brought Henry over to our house today to play. Henry is 5 months old, and he's a big guy! He made Dylan look teeny tiny. Henry is also doing lots of cool things like sitting up and rolling over both ways. He's very advanced :) He wanted to play with Dylan, but Dylan wasn't doing much playing back. At one point we put them facing each other and they did "talk" a little back and forth. Then Henry decided that Dylan's socks looked intriguing, so he reached over and took them both off and then tried to eat them. Then he tried to eat Dylan's bare feet - foot fetish Henry??
As soon as they left, Mike decided that Dylan needs some bootcamp training to teach him to roll over ASAP. He's been working on it all night with him. No luck yet.
It was a different type of Sunday Funday, but it was definitely fun! Here are a few pics of the boys.

Great Grandpa Leonard
On February 5, 2012 Dylan lost his Great Grandpa Leonard. We are so sad to lose such a wonderful Grandpa and Great Grandpa. Luckily, around Thanksgiving we brought Dylan to Springfield so he could meet Grandpa, and we got some great pics of them together. When Dylan was born, Grandpa jumped out of his chair when he heard that the name was Dylan because Grandpa's favorite cowboy was Matt Dillon. Dylan will always remind us of Grandpa Leonard and his love of cowboys and westerns!
4th month pictures
The fourth month brought an adorable new achievement - laughing! That laugh is contagious and so adorable we can't stand it! A surefire way to get Dylan to laugh is making animal noises with the stuffed animals, especially his lion. He is also tolerating being on his stomach a little bit better, although it still doesn't last very long. He can push up and look around now from his stomach, but still can't roll over. We think that's coming soon! He also grabs at toys now, and likes to listen to stories about animals.
At his 4 month doctor appointment, he got 2 shots, which he took like a champ! He cried for about 2 minutes, then was happy as always. His weight is 13 lbs 3 ounces (17th %), length is 24.5 inches.

Nursery
While I was pregnant, one of the most common questions I was asked was "What's the theme of the nursery?" Everytime I said that I was going to wait to decorate until we knew the sex of the baby, people looked at me like I was crazy. Don't you need to plan ahead, you'll be too tired to do that after the baby's born, it will be fine just pick neutral colors - these were some of the comments I often got regarding this decision.
Anyone who knows me well knows that I am not OCD in the least. I don't need to have control of a situation, and things don't have to be perfect right away. They will get done when they get done. Clearly this is not a personality trait I got from my mom. Mike also knows I have a hard time making decorating decisions. As he has had to re-paint several rooms in our house after I changed my mind on the paint color, he was fine with waiting on the nursery so that he only had to paint it once.
I did try to find bedding before hand, but just could never find anything I liked. Then I found out Etsy sold bedding, and I had the complete opposite problem - I loved EVERYTHING! Finally at about the 3 month mark, we finished the nursery. I LOVE it! Dylan doesn't care what it looks like at this point, but one day he'll like it :) Here are some pics of his room!

3rd month pictures
Right at about 12 weeks, Dylan gave us the BEST present ever - he started sleeping through the night! WOOO HOOO! He also timed it very well to coincide with my return to work. Since this time, he's been consitantly sleeping about 12-13 hours in a row. He falls asleep around 8, we wake him up around 9:30 to eat, then he sleeps until about 8 or 8:30 in the morning. We think this is about the best schedule any parent could ask for! When he is awake, he is SO happy! He loves to be held, but also is starting to like to play on his playmat. He also started smiling more, which is about the cutest thing ever!
At his 3 month doctor appointment, he weighed in at 11 lbs. A little shy of where they wanted him to be, we increased the amount we were feeding him so at this point he is eating 5 ounces about every 3 to 4 hours.
Grandmas are watching him during the day while I am at work. Lisa also started watching him one day a week. Connor and Dylan don't really interact yet, but one day they will be best buds!

Baby's First Christmas!

and we couldn't leave this one out...
New Year's Eve at our house! Dylan went to bed around 10, and we stayed up until 4 (hello, are we in college again?!) The 5 am feeding that day was less than exciting, haha.
